Recruitment and Selection
The existing RAF recruitment and selection process utilised multiple spreadsheets and databases to document candidate details, to record test scores and to provide information on the courses that were available to them. Candidate tests were completed on paper and the entire process was disjointed, time inefficient and frustrating for both candidate and recruiter.
The brief for this project was to deliver a rapid, cost-effective solution utilising existing resources wherever possible. We therefore commissioned and project managed a multi-disciplinary team of existing suppliers, contractors and military personnel to deliver a pragmatic and successful project for the Head of RAF Selection and Recruitment.
Approach
We implemented a 5 stage project management approach, adopting an Agile methodology throughout, to ensure that the solution was delivered to scope, to time and to budget.
Stage 1
Defined the project goal and appointed a project team.
Stage 2
Created a project plan and defined roles and responsibilities.
Stage 3
Managed suppliers, contractors and military personnel.
Stage 4
Tracked and controlled project scope, timescales and costs.
Stage 5
Rolled out test solution with appropriate training.
Project handover and close.
Solution
Following in-depth analysis of current working practices, we proposed and co-ordinated the development of an innovative solution, to transform the recruitment and selection process for our client. The solution was two-fold:
- automate manual processes and
- introduce a portal that brought together disparate systems into a single, user-friendly and efficient interface.
The outcome was delivery of a quicker, streamlined recruitment process that reduced the opportunity for human error whilst greatly improving the candidate and recruiter experience.
